Early Life and Military Career:

George Washington was born in Westmoreland County, Virginia, on February 22, 1732. He received a limited formal education but excelled in practical skills such as surveying and military tactics. At the age of 22, Washington joined the Virginia militia and fought in the French and Indian War (1754-1763).

Leadership in the Revolutionary War:

As tensions escalated between Great Britain and its American colonies, Washington became a prominent voice for colonial rights. In 1775, he was appointed commander-in-chief of the Continental Army, leading the colonists to victory in the Revolutionary War (1775-1783).

Establishing the Presidency:

In 1787, the Constitutional Convention drafted the United States Constitution, establishing a federal government with three branches. Washington was unanimously elected as the first President in 1789.

Domestic Policy:

During his presidency, Washington focused on establishing a stable and functioning government. He created a national bank, established the District of Columbia as the federal capital, and appointed a cabinet of advisors.

Foreign Policy:

Washington's foreign policy aimed to maintain peace and avoid entanglements in European affairs. He issued the Neutrality Proclamation in 1793, declaring the United States' neutrality in the French Revolutionary Wars.

Farewell Address:

In 1796, Washington delivered his Farewell Address, warning against excessive partisanship, foreign alliances, and the dangers of excessive spending. This address has become a cornerstone of American political thought.

Retirement and Legacy:

After two terms as President, Washington retired to Mount Vernon, his estate in Virginia. He remained a respected figure and advisor to his successors. Washington died in 1799 at the age of 67.

Enduring Influence:

George Washington's legacy remains an enduring testament to his leadership and character. He is revered as the "Father of the Nation" and as an iconic symbol of American values. His principles and actions continue to shape American politics and society to this day.
